Meron Berhanu is an award winning writer, poet, short story writer and filmmaker from Kilburn, London.Her poems and short stories have also been published in The Black Anthology and Working Class Anthology by 10:10 Press, and 22 Under 22 Anthology by Flexible Press. Her short stories and poetry have also been published in Poetry London’s 99th issue, The Poetry Review (Vol 112, No 2, Summer 2022), Ephimiliar Journal, Pulp Poetry Press and Lucent Dreaming Magazine.

In 2019, she was shortlisted for the Beyond Borders Prize and was runner up in the Working-Class Writers Prize. In 2020, she won the Kathleen Dixon Prize from Royal Holloway. As a first-generation British citizen, capturing the complexity in the relationship between daughters, mothers, and motherland attempts to restore these voices into the fabric of British history and literature.

'Exploring those often unrepresented stories that speak of the lived experience of women defines my writing practice. Through a range of mediums including short-fiction, non-fiction, photography, and videography, I aim to document unique perspectives that capture a range of social, cultural, and political landscapes.'
